The Gazelles System - Building Better Cash Flow and Giving You More Time

As an entrepreneur have you ever come up with an idea or strategy which you and your team knew was going to change your world?

Your enthusiasm was blasting-off the roof but within a few months you, your team and the people in your organization were no longer focused on the goals of the strategy? Did you find yourself in the same old place again with the same old problems, frustrated customers, disappointed employees, sagging profits and more of your time being spent putting out fires?

If you answered honestly, you most likely answered yes to these questions. Rest Assured, you are not alone. As a CEO of a mid-sized firm David Chavez, our founder, experienced challenges like this and more.

In his quest to help small to mid-sized growth-driven companies, David searched out to find the best possible PROVEN solution to assist entrepreneurs and their teams in developing executable strategies which are easy to understand and implement. The Gazelles system is the foundation to building better cash flow, greater profitability, a solid foundation and the most important thing to the entrepreneur, more TIME.

Let's go over some of the details of the system and how it works.

4 Decisions

People
The first decision area is People and the result is Happiness. Is it fun to come to the office for you and your employees, the stakeholders (customers, bankers, investors etc.)? This is really dependant on the decisions you have made around hiring the people in your organization. If you are growing, but not having a good time, this is a people issue.

Strategy
Revenue and growth come from strategy. If you want to grow, you need to have a clear strategy. You need to be able to state your strategy in one sentence. If you have nailed your strategy you will be able to dominate your market place and attain the rocket-like revenue growth of a Gazelle (even if you don't have the smartest people or your execution is not the sharpest).

Execution
Execution is all about profit and time. For many companies, they are growing all the while making less money. If revenue is not turning into the profit you want, you have an execution issue where one of two things may be happening. First, you may find you are making less money than when you were a third of your current size. Second, you felt there would be an economy of scale as you grew but are finding that your time is being eaten up by daily activities as opposed to growing your business. Even though you may be fully aware that execution is where you need these disciplines, what you may not realize is that you will pay a great price for not having the disciplines that allow you to spend more time improving your business.

Cash
If you are like most growth companies cash is always a challenge. You can get by with decent people, decent strategy, decent execution, but you cannot get by without cash. Cash is the oxygen of business and having the right people focused on the right cash-flow strategies with the right disciplines in place, will allow you to focus on maintaining the cash-flow you desire.

3 Executions Disciplines

Priorities
The priorities are the goals the organization is working to accomplish. Goals create alignment which point people in the right direction. Understanding goals and how to focus the attention of your team towards a common goal is a challenge for most. Our simplistic tools help you to develop clear goals and understand the obstacles in your way.

Data/Metrics
The data/metrics are the measurements which gauge the goals. To us at Assured Strategies these are the facts of the business. The numbers never lie if they are compiled correctly but if they're not, it could indicate a people issue. Understanding how to relate the numbers to goals while reviewing the metrics daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly provide accountability. Do you know the numbers that drive your goals? If not, you will have trouble holding the people accountable executing the organizational goals.

Meeting Rhythms
Meetings are a nemesis to most businesses because many times there is a lack of a focused agenda and time is often wasted because of this. Meeting rhythms help to maximize business opportunities and quickly identify and solve bottlenecks. Meetings provide you with the ability to get data regularly from your team. If something is going wrong, when do you want to find out about it, at a daily meeting or sometime in the future? Meeting rhythms help you react more quickly to an quickly changing world.

2 Drivers

People
When it comes to your business there are only three kinds of people - customers, employees and shareholders. Employees work for your organization but they are also suppliers or contractors that help you deliver your product or service to your customers. In your business, trying to figure out how to attract, keep and grow those relationships is essential to executing a strategy. Which employees do you keep? Which ones do you grow? Successful customers, employees and shareholders must understand where you are going and what you are doing if you want to keep and attract the best of the best to your business.

Processes
On the other side of the Driver equation is Productivity or Processess. This is all about your transactions or activities to make/buy your products or services. It's about how you sell them and how good records will be kept.

1 Catalyst

There are three types of catalysts - Advisors, Consultants and/or Coaches. Advisors bring their experience and knowledge to a business; Consultants are subject-matter experts who provide specific solutions; Coaches are there to challenge you, hold you accountable, ask questions, and make sure you are thinking and executing the right way. Assured Strategies provides all three of these services starting with facilitating the development of the strategies you will implement. Why a coach? Performance is better with a coach, our CEO has one, Michael Dell has one, and most smart business leaders have a coach to challenge them and hold them accountable. The key is to find the right coach who can empathize with you, but strong enough to give you the brutal facts, someone with real small to mid-size CEO experience.
